Madison
County Courthouse in Huntsville |
From a sleepy old farm town to the home
of a space center,
Madison County
is located in the heart of the Tennessee Valley.
Huntsville is
the hub of Madison County and there is still an abundance of farmland in
the county including cotton, soybean and cattle farms.
Even with plenty of farmland, Madison
County is the third most populated county in Alabama. It lies between
the Appalachian Mountains and the Tennessee River, making for some
beautiful scenery. This is a very
family-friendly area in the state of Alabama. You’re close to Sharon
Johnston Park, which is a 250-acre park with campsites, a pool and a
lake stocked with fish. In May, there’s an annual fishing rodeo. Madison
County Lake is a 105-acre fishing lake with picnic areas, grills and
boat rentals. If you want to get away for a long weekend, you’re only
100 miles south of Nashville, or you can travel east to Georgia or west
to Mississippi. Children can
attend Huntsville City Schools, Madison City Schools or Limestone County
Schools. All Huntsville schools are accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges. Each school system strives to provide a safe
learning environment so students can reach their full potential.
